This is not the place for personal reflection. It is a site that gets periodic updates with posts of theological concern. This post, though, will focus more on the coffeeshop than theology. I just finished reading Paul, the Spirit, and the People of God (Gordon Fee, Hendrickson 1996) and enjoyed it. It would not be to bold to say that Fee is trying to return the Spirit to its proper place in the evangelical mindset. His desire to remind readers that the Spirit is experiential and also that the flesh/Spirit battle is primarily corporate rather than individualist is striking to me. I began thinking about things because of this and specifcally a song that says "Jesus runs to the broken" (a paraphrase). The question that arises for me is whether or not this is actually the case. Instead, is it not us who run to the broken because of Christ and through the empowering of the Spirit (for the glory of the Father)? Is not the Spirit the presence of Christ on earth?
I have experienced my share of brokeness in life and have (recently) witnessed some as an observer. Is not the better way for us to run instead of waiting for Jesus to comfort(who can and will)? I think that is what He wants us to do, since we are the only Jesus the world will see!

I think Wright says it like this, "Because Jesus to Israel, so the Church to the world." With Fee you can add "... through the empowering of the Spirit".
